HP iPAQ 4700 RAM Upgrade Review

"With that in mind, I did what many women will try to do when they are in a relationship with someone that is just slightly less than perfect - I decided to "change him" for the better. Luckily for me, this would not be hard to do."
The Gadgeteer got an iPAQ 4700 and decided that size (of RAM) was important... her new iPAQ was lacking in that department so she sent him off for some major surgery.
Pros:
Doubled internal RAM
Increased performance in many areas
No decrease to battery life - mine has actually increased
Cons:
Voids factory warranty
It's not cheap

HP iPAQ hx4700 review

"VGA?
No doubt about it, VGA is cool. However, the experience is not perfect - yet. "
Geekzone takes a detailed look at the HP iPAQ hx4700 series VGA Pocket PC.
They try to focus on features that aren't always detailed in other reviews such as bluetooth with phones and headsets, business software, security, and the touchpad.
Their verdict:
"If you have read my blog, you will know that I don’t regard VGA alone as enough reason to buy a new VGA Pocket PC. However, this device is very cool and I’m probably going to get one. The reason I like this device is the combination of Bluetooth Audio (this is a killer for me – I hate cables), strong security, good screen and loads of memory."
HP iPAQ hx4700 128mb memory upgrade

PocketPCTechs have announced they now offer memory upgrades for the VGA HP iPAQ hx4700 series (hx4700 and hx4705).
The upgrade gives you 128mb of RAM but is quite expensive at $199 and invalidates your warranty.
That said, PocketPCTechs do give a 90 warranty on their work and they have a great reputation for quality upgrades.

iPAQ 4700 First Impressions

BargainPDA got hold of the HP iPAQ 4700 yesterday and have already posted their first impressions of the new VGA Pocket PC device.
So far their review looks at the build of the iPAQ 4700, and details what they think of the VGA screen:
"The difference between QVGA and VGA is like the difference between penciled sketches and Van Gogh's Starry Night. VGA is so crisp, it makes the real world look fuzzy."
A full review will follow soon.

HP iPAQ hx4700 / hx4705 Review

Chris Leckness at ipaqhq reviewed the HP iPAQ hx4700 VGA Pocket PC.
Here are some quotes from the review:
"Was it worth the wait to me? Yes. While its not likely to become my everyday PDA, it is packed with some great features and has a marvelous screen."
"If want VGA and prefer HP, this is the model for you. If you are a budget PPC'er, this is not for you. I am trying not to call it an overpriced gadget, but it is hard knowing pricing on other VGA models."

iPAQ hx4700 Review

Pocketnow has reviewed the HP iPAQ hx4700 VGA Pocket PC.
The iPAQ hx4700 features a 4" VGA (640x480 pixel) screen, 128mb ROM and 64mb RAM (with 135mb of that available for user storage), 624mhz processor (same as my favorite Dell X30), wireless 802.11b and bluetooth 1.2, and both SDIO and compactflash expansion slots.
The iPAQ hx4700 is big: 5.2 x 3.0 x0.6 inches and 6.6 ounces but that is to be expected considering the large screen.
What did they think of the iPAQ hx4700? they loved the screen and speed but didn't like the design and price so much. Read their review for the details.
